Admins

Founder

Hey guys,

I will no longer be admin-ing this group (is that even a word?) due to stuff.  I'm looking for new admins who want to run the group, improve it, and bring it back to life, as it's been rather dead lately because I haven't done much with it.  Because reasons.  I'm really sorry.

If you're interested in taking over the group, please send ME (DreamForecast) a private message.  Tell me about your past experience (don't worry too much about this), your vision for the group (what you want to do with it), and just a bit about yourself in general.  There will be spots for more than one admin, to run this thing efficiently.  Hopefully you will do a better job than I can.

It's been fun and a really interesting experience.  I've met some wonderful people through this whole thing.  Thank you, especially to you people who are always so enthusiastic about our activities. You know who you are.  Thank you.  You guys are what make the group stand out from all the other music groups.  (Perhaps you'd want to try admin-ing it?)

I'm sorry I promised a while ago that I'd be sprucing things up.  It's just not going to happen (from me, at least).  I just can't run it well anymore.   I'm really busy now with college and soon I will be making music my full time job, which is super time consuming.  I want to do the best job that I can, and to do that, I have to give it my sole attention.

I mean I CAN still run our group, but it'd be much much better if someone else who had more free time did it.  They'd have time to organize events and contests and other activities.  I'll still be co-founder or contributor or something so I won't be entirely gone.  I just won't be in charge.  It'd just make the group a better group for you guys.  I don't want this group to die, but I don't want it to be living like a vegetable either.

So please, if any of you are interested, shoot me (DreamForecast) a private message!  I'll post another announcement once we get our new admins.

Thanks, guys!

By the way, it's been a while.  What's up?  I haven't had a chance to check out a lot of your music but it would be awesome if you'd comment below with some new work of yours and a tidbit about how things are going.  : )

I'm not really sure why I was ever asked to join this group in the first place. Whomever it was that invited me submitted one or two of my things that got approved. I submitted a couple more or whatever and those got approved as well. But then suddenly, nothing I'd ever submit ever got approved, and I was never told why. Now all of the sudden it says I am not allowed to submit to the group, even though I am still a member.

So a suggestion to the admins:  if you feel someone is submitting stuff that does not belong, tell them why. Don't just keep denying the submissions until you get so annoyed with them that you just block their ability to submit to the group.

You might find that most people want to respect what the Admins of the group want for their group. Show some kindness and clear communication, rather than this passive-agressive attitude that lacks integrity.

If you want someone to leave the group, you might also find that its more diplomatic to ask them to and then if they give you attitude about it to just block them or something in that event. I personally have no desire to remain in a group I'm not wanted in. Remaining would not do me nor the group admins any service and would accomplish nothing productive.

So with that said, I hope you all have a nice day :)

Hi,

I'm the ex-Admin of the group.  I recently left cuz things got too busy and stuff.  So please don't blame any of the new admins.

1. "I submitted a couple more or whatever and those got approved as well." To be honest, I think I approved these by mistake cuz I was in a rush.  Then instead of messaging you to tell you to remove them yourself, I went ahead and did it myself so as not to bother you.

2. "But then suddenly, nothing I'd ever submit ever got approved, and I was never told why. Yeah, because I was more careful, haha.  Here's the reason why they didn't get approved though.  While your videos are interesting (I have seen a few of them), they're not exactly related to "original music."  Even if they may contain bits of original music in them, there is not enough to make it "count."  I didn't want the group's watchers to have their feed filled with content that isn't related enough to the group.  That's all. It's nothing personal, the submissions just didn't meet the "genre" requirements.

3. "Now all of the sudden it says I am not allowed to submit to the group, even though I am still a member." The fact that you're not allowed to submit anymore has nothing to do with YOU.... actually, recently when I left, the group permissions system got messed up so I resetted it to defaults.  So thanks for bringing this to my attention, I'll let the new admins know so they can rectify that!  Cuz that would be pretty bad if members couldn't submit at all o_o.... so thanks for letting me know! Gonna go fix that asap.

4. [1] So a suggestion to the admins:  if you feel someone is submitting stuff that does not belong, tell them why. Don't just keep denying the submissions until you get so annoyed with them that [2] you just block their ability to submit to the group. [1] Yeah, I agree  I'll keep that in mind for the future... and let the admins know.  [2] See #3.

5. You might find that most people want to respect what the Admins of the group want for their group. Show some kindness and clear communication, rather than this passive-agressive attitude that lacks integrity. Thanks, I'm glad you do... Sorry, I didn't think of that.  I didn't think it would come across as passive-aggressive.  I get submissions denied all the time when I submit to group and it just kind of felt to me that it was nothing personal at all.  Probably just didn't meet specifications.  BUT.  You are right, it would be much better if I had told you "hey, this doesn't exactly belong here, that's why I'm denying your submission" and perhaps point you to some groups that you could submit to... hmm... good suggestion.

6. Up to you.  And... a lot of things I could be answering here I've already said before.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience.  A bit of clearer communication (or any communication at all, actually, haha) would have done the trick and I should have seen that.  Thanks for telling me all this though, it was very informative. This is the kind of thing I wish group members (or any member of anything) would do more often.  It really helps improve things in the future.  Good day to you too! :)

Thank you for responding in the way you did. You have made your points clearly. I still have the group on watch, I just don't see what point my being a member would serve. Though I do disagree with you about my submissions not meeting the qualifications of your group requirements, I just don't feel that its my place to debate it. Whether they actually meet the requirements or not, the facts are: its your group, not mine. So this gives you the right to make whatever choices for that group that you feel are best for your group. I think the real problem was exactly as you stated:  time. Had you the time to look at things with closer inspection, you might see why they do qualify to be in your group. As you said, you have "seen a few of them". When you combine "only having seen a few" with your admission of lack of time for attention to detail -- it kind of tells me that whether or not they actually qualified for your group becomes a moot point really quickly, when admins are only skimming submissions due to lack of time for a more informed review, or clear communication with the submitter.

As for what passive-agressive is or is not, in my humble opinion:  aggressive action does not have to come in the form of emotional intensity. Passive in this context is simply a lack of communication. Like if a girl is avoiding a guy (or vice versa) instead of communicating, this is a parallel example. For this example, the reason one person is avoiding the other doesn't even require having anything to do with the person being avoided. In fact, they might be avoiding a whole lot more than just the one person, and the reasons for doing such not even having anything to do with any of those people. We do not live in a society that encourages clear communication. We live in a society that teaches us to either attack and issue, or walk away from an issue. So we also live in a society that wonders why it still has so many problems. hahaha.

So I didn't take any of it personally. I also did not know that my lack of ability to submit to the group was a problem that expanded beyond just me. In my experiences, I've had group admins get annoyed with my submissions or just dislike me personally for whatever reason, and quietly disabled my ability to submit, or just blocked me from the group outright. I don't take that personally either, because I don't deem it as being my problem. If those admins can't contact me and say "hey, your submissions that contain this, this and that are not ones that we feel are appropriate for this group" or "hey i really don't think you are right for this group, you might want to consider joining one that is more suitable" then thats really not my problem, that is merely how they have chosen to conduct themselves. So a choice a person makes for themselves, has nothing to do with me. They would make those sorts of choices even if I was never born. So I feel no reason to hold anything against them for it. So, I figured that something similar was happening this time as well. In this instance, I was incorrect. It was merely the result of an error.

As for the rest -- feel free to invite me back when clear communication becomes standard practice here. It is just my personal preference that I don't wish to make inevitably failed attempts to submit things to a group that denies my submissions the vast majority of the time. Once this group has a policy that communication with the submitter happens before the deny button is hit -- then I don't feel it to be a waste of my time to explain why I feel a submission fits the group category that I submitted it to, as long as the admins are willing to have that conversation. And if after that conversation they still feel that my submission does not fit the requirements of the category, then at least a discussion was had about it so thats completely fine.

Does it count as vocals if it has a choir in it? But only used one or two times?
